Taxing Our Way Out of Recession
ACCA Canada is pleased to present an online learning session.
During this period of challenging economic conditions we have seen tax revenues decline dramatically in many economies as their business sectors have struggled to keep afloat.
With many economies facing a double dip recession they need to bring tax and spending into equilibrium. Canada has demonstrated better stewardship of its economy and has withstood the worst damage caused by the 2008 global financial crisis as a result. While natural resource rich countries such as Canada and Australia have maintained a positive growth trend it is important to examine the pitfalls and benefits of new approaches in fiscal consolidation.
Join us as Chas Roy-Chowdhury, ACCA’s head of taxation, explores the tax and spend plans being implemented by the many developed economies in Europe as well as the US.
Chas has a degree in Applied Economics and is a fellow of ACCA. He is also Chair of the Taxation Working Group of the small business organization UEAPME and a member of the Indirect and Direct Tax Working Parties at Fédération des Experts Comptables Européens.
Cost:
$20 – members
$25 – non-members
A certificate of attendance will be emailed after the session and should be kept as evidence of 2 hours verifiable Continuing Professional Development (CPD) under the ACCA CPD program
